What Is NI FieldDAQ™?

FieldDAQ devices are high-performance DAQ devices rated for the most extreme environments. FieldDAQ hardware enables engineers to take high-quality measurements as close to the sensor as possible, in a wide range of environmental and system conditions.

DAQ is back and more rugged than ever.

Rocket environment with NI hardware setup in a testing environment, showcasing advanced measurement capabilities for aerospace applications

Built to withstand 100 Gs of shock, FieldDAQ devices are our toughest ones yet. They deliver precise measurements in harsh conditions. Plus, they come with NI FlexLogger™ Software, our no-programming data-logging software, free.

Key Benefits

  • Ruggedness—FieldDAQ devices are IP65/67 rated, waterproof, dust-tight, and resistant to shock/vibration (100 g/10 grms). Take measurements in a wide range of temperatures from -40 °C to 85 °C, while channel isolation (60 VDC/1,000 VRMS) reduces noise and protects circuitry.

  • High-Performance Measurements—The thermally stable design allows for minimal accuracy drift over the temperature range, while built-in premium signal conditioning and diagnostic features reduce the effect of external interference. Shortened sensor cables minimize noise by digitizing close to the sensor.
  • Tight Synchronization—The distributed TSN architecture reduces cabling cost, installation time, and enclosure requirements with synchronization accuracy <1 μs. Connect FieldDAQ devices and other TSN devices together, such as NI CompactDAQ or NI CompactRIO systems, to connect devices without the need for external switches.

  • Accelerated Development—Quickly start logging data with real-time display using NI FlexLogger™ Lite, our free no-code data acquisition software. Develop custom software with drivers and example programs for NI LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, VB.NET, and C#, and standardize your test frameworks with the NI LabVIEW+ Suite.

Key Applications

  • V&V of large, distributed physical systems
  • Environmental test
  • HALT test
  • Structural test
  • Noise, vibration, and harshness test (NVH)
  • Rocket engine test
  • Heavy equipment/off-road vehicle test
  • Component tests in test cells, chambers
  • Academic indoor/outdoor research (wind tunnel, temperature chamber measurements)
